Scientific Conference “Legal risk has many names”

Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” and the Polish Federation of Hospitals have jointly organized a prestigious and exclusive Conference titled: “Legal risk has many names”.

 

The ceremonial opening of the conference was made by H.M. prof. dr. hab. Paweł Czarnecki, MBA, Dr. h.c – the Provost of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”.

 

During the conference, the “Code of Good Management Practices” was discussed. The code covers standardization of solutions enabling more efficient and effective management of healthcare providers. Those entities which implement the code of good practice will have the option to receive an increased public funding.

 

The “Code of Good Management Practices” was presented jointly by Mr Adam Niedzielski, President of the National Health Fund and the President of the Polish Federation of Hospitals – Mr Jarosław J. Fedorowski, prof. uni, MD, PhD, MBA, FACP, FESC, FPAMC.

 

During the conference, a debate took place among the invited guests, including the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health – Józefa Szczurek-Żelazko, the representatives of the Supreme Council of Nurses and Midwives, Madam President Zofia Małas, Madam Vice-President Maria Łodzińska and Mr Grzegorz Błażewicz, representative of the Patient Rights Ombudsman.

We were also honoured by the presence of Mr Jakub Gołąb, Director of the Department of Social Dialogue and Communication at the Patient Rights Ombudsman, Mr Paweł Pawliszak, Representative of the Regional Medical Council, Ms Zuzanna Maria Kosakowska, Data Protection Inspector at the Centre of Health Information Systems, Mr Michał Chrobot from Świętokrzyskie Oncology Centre in Kielce, President of the Polish Society of Medical Coders, Ms Izabela Marcewicz-Jendrysik from the Warsaw Children’s Hospital, Mr Piotr Welenc from Wolters Kluwer, the Institute of New Technologies Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”, Ms Małgorzata Zaława-Dąbrowska from the Independent Public Complex of Open Healthcare Facilities Warsaw-Żoliborz and many other outstanding guests.

 

During the conference, Institute of Health and Social Affairs (IZISS) of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” was established. It comprises leaders in the medical industry, government institutions, local government, associations, representatives of public and non-public healthcare systems and organizations that aim at the patient’s well-being as well as development of the healthcare system and social affairs.

 

The main tasks and goals of the Institute of Health and Social Affairs include:

  • inspiring legal and institutional changes in the healthcare and social affairs system,
  • implementation of research projects useful for the healthcare management system,
  • raising the quality of public debate in Poland and at the European level so that it is substantive and focused on solving problems of the management system in healthcare,
  • presenting and disseminating proposals for system changes for healthcare and social affairs system,
  • introducing new topics to the public debate and dissemination of an innovative approach to the issue of modern management in the healthcare system,
  • initiating public debates on healthcare and social affairs,
  • signalling threats when it comes to the management system in healthcare and social life protection,
  • creation of mechanisms enabling the inclusion of citizens and their various groups and communities in the public debate on public health,
  • building bridges between scientists, social activists, politicians, business communities and the media.

 

The Institute of Health and Social Affairs is a member of many structures associating NGOs, such as the Polish Federation of Hospitals, the Polish Society of Coordinated Healthcare, Young Medicine Managers and the Polish Society of Medical Coders.

 

The Institute of Health and Social Affairs conducts research and prepares expertise as well as recommendations for the management system in healthcare and social affairs. It is also the organizer of many Polish and international conferences, seminars and lectures. Many researchers from various research centres throughout Poland as well as political and social activists cooperate with the Institute.

 

The Institute of Health and Social Affairs (IZISS) was established during the conference.

The honorary patronage over the conference was extended by the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy – Ms Bożena Borys-Szopa.
