  • Field of study PSYCHOLOGY

  • Duration 5 YEARS (10 SEMESTERS)

Thanks to advanced technologies, even the restrictions on movement caused by a pandemic do not prevent us from seeing friends living in the most distant corners of the world on the other side of the screen at any time and from any place. We live in a world that over the course of a generation has shrunk to a form in which the distance is no longer latitude, but the fear of opening up to other people.

Intercultural psychology, being a young psychological subdiscipline, meets the urgent needs of blurring boundaries – through ways of better understanding otherness. Thanks to research in this field, we can first diagnose the limiting filters through which we look at other cultures, and then, giving up unverified assumptions, take the first step towards understanding and establishing relationships.

Intercultural psychology, in its quest to better understand the behavior and mental processes of representatives of various cultures, draws from a number of social sciences, including primarily cultural anthropology, sociology, linguistics, religious studies, comparative studies, geography and history.
Intercultural psychologists study psychological constructs within individual cultures, investigating how the human psyche, its health, affect, cognitive processes, feelings or elements considered in Western culture as hallmarks of psychopathology, i.e. depressive, manic or anxious states, are perceived by a given group.
Having extensive psychological knowledge combined with knowledge of various cultures, one can confidently navigate a globalized reality, performing key functions in intercultural environments – as modern leaders and facilitator.
