Ceremonial inauguration of the academic year 2022/23 at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” – Branch in Poznań
On 20 October, at the Bazar Hotel in Poznań, we witnessed a ceremonial inauguration of the academic year 2022/23 at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” – Branch in Poznań. The ceremony was connected with an official appointment by the Provost of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” of new members to the Business Consultative Council of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”. During the ceremony, an official matriculation of first-year students took place.
Professor handed the following appointments to the Council: Ms Aneta Kłopot-Wartecka, Director of the County Employment Office in Środa Wielkopolska, dr Artur De Rosier, Chairman of Wielkopolska Chamber of Doctors, Mr Jacek Sobczak, Director of the Addiction Treatment Institute in Charcice and Mr Marek Czaplicki, Director of the Provincial Hospital for the Nervous and Mentally Ill in Gniezno.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of such noble guests as: Mr Filip Libicki, Senator of the Republic of Poland, Mr Tomasz Kamiński, Advisor to the Wielkopolska Voivode – Mr Michał Zieliński, Mr Sławomir Górny, Deputy Starost of the Grodzisk County, Mr Patryk Pawełczak, Director of the Office of the President of Poznań – Mr Jacek Jaśkowiak, Fr Piotr Małecki, Director of the Catechetical Department of the Metropolitan Curia in Poznań, representing Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki of the Poznań Archdiocese, dr hab. Killion Munyama, Professor of the University of Economics in Poznań, Advisor to the European External Action Service in Brussels and former Member of the Polish Parliament, dr Natalia Majchrzak, Vice-Rector for Development at the Higher School of Security in Poznań, dr Lech Drożdżyński, Vice-Rector for Full-time and Part-time Studies at the Higher School of Hotel Management and Gastronomy in Poznań, Ms Irena Czyżewska, Chancellor and Founder of the Higher School of Hotel Management and Gastronomy in Poznań, dr Ewa Mucha-Szajek, Vice-Chancellor of the Higher School of Hotel Management and Gastronomy in Poznań, Ms Renata Glista, Vice-Chancellor of the Higher School of Communication and Management in Poznań, dr hab. The inaugural lecture, entitled “Economic cooperation between the European Union and the African Union: benefits and losses for Poland”, was delivered by prof. dr hab. Killion Munyama, former Member of the Polish Parliament.
The focal point of the ceremony was the matriculation of first-year students. On behalf of the new students, the oaths were taken by Aleksandra Maria Drożdż, Daria Skórczyńska, Khrystyna Sherchuk, Michał Lewosiński, Marcel Kondracki, Dominik Andrzejczak, Aleksander Wójcik and Marcel Bilski. Later, the Provost of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”, prof. dr hab. Paweł Czarnecki, symbolically touched the arms of new students with the University mace as a form of approval of their swearing-in as students of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”.
The Provost then presented the most diligent students with diplomas of recognition of their academic achievements.
Our new first-year students were also welcomed by dr Filip Szymczak, Director of the Institute of Management at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” – Branch in Poznań, and Mr Sebastian Surmela, President of the Student Union at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” – Branch in Poznań.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the performance of Fermat Choir from Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań, which under the baton of dr Mateusz Sibilski performed Gaude Mater Polonia, Bogurodzica and Gaudeamus Igitur.
