Sign language at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”
As part of a project called “University for everyone – transformation of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” into an institution available to everyone”, we have established a unique cooperation with Migam, a company dealing with professional translation services from and into the sign language. This effort is to strengthen our contacts with each and every student at our University as well as with our potential candidates who might suffer from disabilities. We have undertaken every effort to overcome any existing communication barriers in this regard.
As part of these efforts, we have added a unique widget to our website thanks to which students with hearing disabilities may connect with a sign translator. The new service is just two clicks away – all you need to do is click on the headphones icon that is available in the lower right corner of the starting page and then select “sign language translator”. You will be redirected to a separate page where you can connect with the service.
Migam employees are available seven days a week. In order to deal with your matter, it is enough to connect with the translator via your smartphone or computer. There is no need to make a prior appointment and the working hours are as follows:
8:00 am – 5:00 pm – Monday to Friday
8:00 am – 4:00 pm – on Saturdays
8:00 – 12:00 – on Sundays
PRON has been established to support students with disabilities and to improve the activities of the University in adapting it to your needs and expectations.
“I have started helping people with disabilities because I want everyone to have equal opportunities for studying and working. I myself have a disability (vision impairment) and I know perfectly well what obstacles such people may encounter. Unfortunately, these barriers are often imperceptible to non-disabled people. I want all students with disabilities to report to me all their problems as well as expectations and suggestions for improvement in relation to the functioning at our University. These issues will be discussed so that we can jointly create a university without any barriers,” said Karol Urbaniak.
