Expert debate on “The role of education in creating social well-being at the time of crisis”

On 5 December, in Browary Warszawskie in Warsaw, Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” and the Institute of Awareness Foundation organised a debate entitled “The role of education in creating social well-being at the time of crisis”. The event was attended by the representatives of the academia, media and student community. An accompanying event was a photo exhibition entitled “Human Fate?” by Mr Dariusz Adam Pańczyk.

During the debate, experts attempted to look for answers to a question on social well-being, its creation and determination in difficult times. Various topics related to the current trends in education were discussed, including remote learning as well as the role of education in improving the quality of life for people with disabilities and seniors. Participants of the event, including students, had the opportunity to find out what kind of financial and organisational support is available to those who want to expand their competences.

“Remote education has opened unprecedented opportunities to establish interpersonal relationships, and it has also increased the availability of education not only to people with disabilities and the elderly, but also to those who are at a communicative or financial disadvantage, coming from smaller towns and poorer regions. Remote education helps to get a better job and it helps to establish a greater sense of self-esteem, which is the foundation of the wider sense of personal well-being,” emphasised dr hab. Arkadiusz Durasiewicz, MBA, DBA, Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Science and Professor at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”.
