Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” has its own Polish Champion in swimming!
Dominika Kulaga, a student of psychology at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” in Rzeszów, won gold and bronze medals and excellent places in the 2019/2020 Polish Academic Championships. Wishing to represent the University during sport events, Dominika has also become the main initiator behind establishing the Academic Sports Association (AZS) at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”.
The title of the Polish Champion in women’s 50-meter backstroke swimming was won by Dominika on 10 October 2020, on the second day of the Polish Academic Championships held in Lublin this year. On the last day of the championships, Dominika also won a bronze medal in women’s 50-meter breaststroke swimming. These achievements gave her the best result among all the 354 women taking part in the 2019/2020 Polish Academic Championships as well as the first place among the representatives of non-public universities in the above-mentioned swimming styles! Starting as the only representative of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”, our student secured the 17th place in the general medal ranking for our University – despite all the competition from over 500 participants from 45 universities.
These are not the first sport achievements of our student. Dominika is a professional swimmer, a member of the national youth team, a bronze medalist of the 2019 Polish Winter Championships for Seniors and Youth in swimming and a multiple finalist of the Polish Championships. Dominika’s medals are a special source of pride for Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” – it was her who, wishing to represent our University in swimming competitions, came out with the initiative to create the Academic Sports Association at Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia”, also becoming its Vice President. This contributes to the special commitment on the part of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” to nurture academic sports. Along these lines, our engagement is also reflected, for example, in Mr. Marian Dymalski, dr h.c., MBA, DBA being a member of the University Council. Mr Dymalski is also the Vice President of FISU (Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire) – the International Federation of Academic Sports.
Dominika, on behalf of the entire academic community of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” – our sincere congratulations!
