On 24 July, Sunday, our eyes were on the World Academic Futsal Championships that took place in Braga and Guimaraes in Portugal.
Our female students, who played against a New Zealand team for the bronze, did a really great job. Our team won 5:0, and our female students from AZS Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” Branch in Poznań did contribute to that tremendous success. Adrianna Sobolewska scored one of the goals, while Klaudia Kubaszek assisted in the next one.
In turn, our male students won the match for the 5th place with their opponents from Argentina. After the regular time of the game, the result was 2:2 and our players performed better on penalties defeating their opponents 5:4. The decisive penalty kick for the Poles was successfully carried by Sebastian Grubalski from AZS Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” Branch in Poznań, who also scored the first goal of the match. Bartłomiej Gładyszewski, also from AZS Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych „Varsovia” Branch in Poznań, contributed to the victory.
Women World Championship was won by students from Portugal, while Men Championship went to a team from Brazil. Silver female medalists were Brazilians (which was a surprise – after five championships in a row), while silver male medalists were from Ukraine.
